Fundraising

Simple ways to help.
No pressure to sell.

Smithfield PTO uses a mix of optional direct giving, online fundraisers, book fairs, passive programs, and community support. Families can choose what works for them—give, shop, share, volunteer, or simply stay connected.

Direct giving campaign

Support Smithfield
all year long.

Support Smithfield Elementary PTO — 2026–27 is our dedicated campaign for optional one-time and monthly contributions. It is one part of our year-round fundraising plan—not the name of the entire program.

Our direct-giving goal is $5,000. If 100 families choose to give $5 per month for ten months, that would reach the goal. One-time gifts and campaign sharing help too, and every contribution is optional.

At that pace, the campaign reaches $5,000 in ten months. This is an example, never a requirement or expected contribution.

Year-round fundraising

Choose what works
for your family

No family is expected to participate in every fundraiser. We are prioritizing online, low-lift opportunities that do not require caregivers or students to collect and track payments.

01

Direct family support

Support Smithfield Elementary PTO — 2026–27 accepts optional one-time gifts and monthly contributions through Givebutter. A gift is never required, and every student benefits from PTO-supported programs.

02

Online shop-and-share fundraisers

When an approved offer is useful to your family, shop through the PTO's official online link or share the post with friends and relatives. Orders and payments stay online—families are not expected to collect money or manage customer payments.

03

Book fairs, family nights + special campaigns

Book fairs, restaurant or community nights, and other limited campaigns may be offered during the year. Each opportunity will be announced separately with its dates, details, and the portion that supports the PTO.

04

Passive giving + community partners

Programs such as Box Tops and support from local businesses can raise money without asking families to sell. Businesses looking for recognition and year-round involvement can explore the Community Partners Program.

OUR FAMILY-FRIENDLY PROMISEShop or share—never obligated.

Students may participate in an approved sale if their family wants to, but door-to-door selling and collecting cash, checks, or money orders will not be the focus. Current opportunities will always be posted with the official online link and clear instructions.

Already making a difference

What family support
has made possible

PTO dollars have helped remove costs for families, enrich the school day, and care for the people who make Smithfield special.

NO FAMILY COST

A fully supported field trip

When first-grade costs for Quiet Valley exceeded the grade allotment, PTO support helped cover the difference so families paid nothing.

MEMORABLE LEARNING

Experiences beyond the classroom

Support has helped make the Franklin Institute trip, school assemblies, Book Fairs, and other student experiences possible.

EVERYDAY EXTRAS

Traditions students can feel

Field Day shirts, yearbooks, student planners, PSSA snacks, classroom supplies, and teacher appreciation all add up to a stronger year.

Planning ahead responsibly

How annual fundraising
supports future plans

Smithfield PTO generally raises funds in advance so the next school year begins with a dependable budget based on money actually received. That helps future boards plan responsibly without counting on uncollected pledges.

If total fundraising exceeds the amount needed for the following year's approved budget, the PTO may consider an additional student experience or family event. Any new idea still requires the appropriate PTO, school, facility, and budget approvals.
